The world’s largest cruise is about to set sail for the first time ever.
The ship is known as the Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas and measures 1,188ft (362m). It also measures 210ft (6m) in width.
It can accommodate 6,988 people on 16 decks. There are 24 guest elevators. There are 2,300 crew members.
As it travels from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the Caribbean, the ship will be making its debut in Europe and the US.
The cruise will stop in two cities of great importance, Barcelona and Rome, starting March 4, 2022.
Footage shows the ship being towed away from Chantiers de l’Atlantique, France where it was constructed.
Wonder is still in the process of being tested while having “successfully completed its first sea trials to ensure it’s in ship shape”.
Trial tests last several days and the ship was “pushed to the limit on propulsion, navigation, engine performance and much more”.
Royal Caribbean will state that 40 sea acceptance tests and inspections have been completed.
The cruise covered 1,500 miles in just four days and reached speeds of 24 knots (27mph) in just four days.
Royal Caribbean said: “With returning favourites also on deck, like The Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea; Central Park, the neighbourhood filled with real plants from end to end; and the vibrant Caribbean-inspired pool deck experience, the innovative, new ship invites adventurers of all ages to reimagine, explore and make memories once again.”
Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International, added: “The momentum taking off across bookings and our returning ships in the US and Europe is significant.
“With half of our fleet sailing again, we are encouraged by what we’re seeing.
“These regions are in the position to welcome a brand-new, innovative ship like Wonder of the Seas.”
