Survivor Season 41 Episode 10: What Happened & What To Expect?

If it wasn’t already established, Wednesday’s episode of Survivor proved there is one long way to fall from the top, even for the smartest players.

After last week’s crazy double elimination, Erica tells us it’s easier said than done to get Shan out. “She has an idol. It’s almost like giving a baby a machine gun,” she says. “She can play the idol any minute, and you can get hit with a straight bullet and go home.”

Deshawn wants to keep his alliance with Shan strong, but recognizes that she is smart enough to win the game. But Shan is nervous that Deshawn is talking to Erica, meaning trust between these two alliance members is shaky at best. However, Deshawn reassures her that he wants to stick with his fellow black alliance members; he wants to do it ‘for the culture’. That said, he is torn about his options to stick with his supporters and fight for his own personal well-being.

REWARD CHALLENGE | No surprise here: it’s an obstacle course followed by a puzzle. Jeff calls it the “best reward of the season.” The winner will go to a shelter where he or she can enjoy pizza under the stars and be sheltered with blankets and pillows. Ricard gets to the puzzle first. While it doesn’t take long for the rest of the cast to catch up, Ricard is able to seal the deal and the food. Jeff then gives him the chance to pick three people to join him, and he chooses Shan, Heather, and Xander.

Survivor Season 41

SANCTUARY | Ricard tells Shan that people’s affinity for her gives him a lot of pause. While expressing his reservations, Shan tells us she knows a man has a better chance of beating a woman in the end, which is sadly true when you look at the numbers from the last 40 seasons. But hey, at least they’re both honest.

Later, Liana is in tears over her relationship with the local pastor. The love she feels for Shan makes her want to sacrifice her own game to sit next to her. They exchange I love you, while Liana tells Shan that people are after her ally Ricard. Shan then tells Ricard what she thinks is about to happen, and they in turn devise a plan to get rid of Deshawn. Ricard and Shan know that eventually they will both have to turn against each other, but is this the right time?

IMMUNITY IS NOW AVAILABLE | The challenge requires players to stand on a narrow bar while balancing a ball on a disc. As time goes on, they will move further down the bar and will place their hands lower on the bar, making it more difficult. If the ball falls, they are out. The last one standing wins the coveted Idol of Immunity.

The last three castaways left are Ricard, Xander and Deshawn, but Ricard is the one to ensure his safety. It seems that Shan’s allies will have to turn their sights elsewhere.

With her ally immune, Shan wants to keep the waters calm, but Ricard decides now is the perfect time to get rid of his BFF. He knows she has to go eventually, so why not now? There’s also a lot of talk about trying to flush Xander’s idol, but when Deshawn continues to lie to Ricard, it rubs the immunity winner the wrong way.

THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN | Erika and Heather tell Jeff they feel they’re at the bottom, but wonder if there’s a way to turn things around. Ricard comments on the elephant in the room and tells the group that he and Shan do not have a Final 2 and that they use each other to get as far as possible. His statement sets off an alarm in the minds of others. Looks like this Tribal can go a million different ways. The only thing that is certain is that these castaways will have to brace themselves for another big blindside.

Everyone votes, but no one plays an immunity idol. Jeff counts the results, and it’s a tie between Shan and Liana. The voice goes down and we see Ricard casting his vote for his bestie Shan. Jeff reads the voices again, and the ax falls hard on Shan.
