The central railway board has decided to rise fare of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, known as IRCTC (e-ticket) service fee levied on those, who are booking tickets online. The central Indian Railway nearly waited around three years for hiking the prices of e-tickets for promoting and encouraging digital payment system.
As the reports concern the railway board has approved for collecting extra service charge on electronic tickets. Most of the passengers have been using IRCTC portal for booking the tickets according to their convenience, and even they can cancel the ticket for changing their tour plan.
IRCTC portal is more user-friendly. The app is more user-friendly to get route details, booking e-tickets, cancelation, IRCTC is providing the best customer service to various passengers across the country. It takes the time to adjust with new charges levied by the central railway. Mostly all passengers may not feel discomfort by these service charges.
Finance Minister mentioned that the decision stands with a temporary conditional basis for charging to avail services. Any time board can revise charges. Further Minister of Finance indicated that the decision made by the competent authority is based on the present situation.
Previous fair system IRCTC used to charge around Rs 20 on every non-AC electronic ticket and for Rs40 for every AC ticket. The last financial year 2016-2017 revenue of internet ticketing dropped by 26 percent after service charges dropped by the Indian railway. According to the official letter came in August 3rd from the respective Central Railway Board.
