Pastor claims that Jesus hasn’t returned because people aren’t donating enough money

A right-wing pastor in the US has claimed that Jesus isn’t returning because not enough people are donating to churches.

Jesse Duplantis, a TV pastor in the States made the undeniably questionable claim during a four-day TV event called Victorython.

He said during the broadcast: “I honestly believe this – the reason why Jesus hasn’t come is because people are not giving the way God told them to give, when you understand this, you can speed up the time.”

Further into the show, Duplantis said if everyone called the number and donated then Jesus would make his return.

“I realised that I will not move people emotionally to give,” he said. “I’m gonna have people move according to the word of God. What is God saying to you?

If we want Jesus to come back, then apparently we’ll have to dig deep into our pockets
Duplantis reckons people need to put their hands in their pockets to make Jesus return to Earth

“I really believe this, if people would call this number and put this victory all over the world, every available voice, every available outlet, God the Father would say, ‘Jesus, go get ’em.’

“Because, you see, he wants to see us as much as we want to see him. … And so what is hindering all these things is because people are not doing in the financial realm — because we’re living in an economic world — what God’s called them to do.”

The clip of his speech was shared on Twitter by Right Wing Watch, an account that monitors activate of Radical Right political organisations.

Since then it has received criticism and backlash, with some claiming Duplantis is a “con artist.”
