Review Of Nerkonda Paarvai

For the film that describes about the women, various problems they face in life, struggles they do for making a living, and of course the double standards of the society faced by them in daily life, Nerkonda Paarvai is a very strong title, and there could not have been a more apt and suitable title for this film than “Nerkonda Paarvai”.

The film throws a powerful light on the obsolete mindset of our patriarchal society and how it sees independent women. In a country like India, the number of sexual assault, rape and molestation cases, have been increasing day by day in a rapid manner, and it is becoming a major concern for women.

Nerkonda Paarvai Movie Review And Rating | Ajith Kumar, Shraddha Srinath

It feels way too sad to see that even after the prevailing of films like Pink and Nerkonda Paarvai, that act as a trigger for many women who have been experiencing the end of some form of sexual misconduct, there has been no improvement.

Three girls i.e. Meera, Famita and Andrea are on the run after a night at a music festival, hoping it to be full of fun, but who knew it would take a place of a nightmare.

The girls were falsely targeted by a gang of entitled men who molested them. While one of them (Meera) is accused of attempt to murder by Adhik, who is the son of an influential politician, the other two girls are accused of prostitution and a few other things.

However, in self-defense, Meera escapes out of the molestation attempt by attacking Adhik with a bottle, which almost costs him an eye. From here onwards, the nightmare starts for the girls who are constantly threatened by Adhik’s friends until the matter is taken to the court.

Bharath Subramanian (Ajith), who is having a battle with his inner demons, steps out of the retirement to help these women and make the society understand how patriarchal our world is. As a remake, Nerkonda Paarvai conveys a great message and gets almost everything at the track.

Even after containing an action sequence for Ajith and a little odd back-story featuring Vidya Balan, Nerkonda Paarvai mostly stays loyal for which the credit goes to director H Vinoth for making the remake intellectively and sensibly, especially when it comes to the scenes of the courtroom in the second half.

The strength of the film is Vinoth’s hard-hitting dialogues. The way he modifies the words or the sequences to suit Tamil sensibilities is worth seeing. Overall, Nerkonda Paarvai is another chance for those who have not watched Pink.
