Manchester City defender and Premier League Player of the Season, Ruben Dias, has admitted that Manchester United are a stronger candidate after signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
Dias is familiar with Ronaldo’s goal scoring ability through their 24 joint appearances with Portugal and from his win of the Golden Boot at Euro 2020 this summer.
The 24-year-old was a huge success in England, helping Pep Guardiola to win the title last season. However, Dias can also see the formidable opposition in their biggest rivals.
Dias believes Ronaldo, 36-year-old, is not only a prominent presence but also an improving player year-on-year. He was the top scorer in Serie A last season.
“Cristiano, year after year, continues to be at a high level,” the defender told Sport TV as per A Bola.
“He has come up big again. He returns to one of the most competitive leagues in the world and to one of the clubs with the most ambitions. It’s a big step for him.
“We won’t be predicting the future, but obviously United come out reinforced and become more and more a strong candidate.”

Ronaldo, who was also linked with a move to the Etihad on deciding to leave Italy, scored twice on his Premier League return against Newcastle and got another against Young Boys in the Champions League.
Former Real Madrid striker, Ronaldo, is hoping to bring his former club major silverware. He continued his scoring streak against West Ham at London Stadium.
City, on the other side, failed to score against Southampton at their home the day before. This was just days after beating RB Leipzig 6-3 in Europe.
Guardiola was asked how he felt about City’s failure to sign a striker following the summer transfer window, and he admitted that he squad had enough talent already.
“I don’t think frustrated is the right word,” he told BT Sport.
“We are blessed with an outstanding squad.
“It’s good that a player like Cristiano Ronaldo is back in England for the Premier League and it’s good news.”
