Representing an alien Invasion from the varied perspective of everyday people around the world isn’t the worst idea I’ve ever heard. But the problem with Invasion that crystallizes here with “The King Is Dead” is that he is so happy with himself at the idea. He thinks so much about his global cosmopolitan ensemble and his patient pace that he forgets to add any real and meaningful drama. And then we forget to bring an invasion.
