Harry Redknapp offers Nuno crucial Tottenham advice ahead of Arsenal derby clash

Harry Redknapp has told Nuno Espirito Santo not to repeat the mistakes he made during Tottenham’s defeat to Chelsea in their North London derby against Arsenal this weekend.

Former Spurs boss and champions league manager, Redknapp, has criticized their new manager for Chelsea’s two goals last weekend.

Redknapp insists that tactics need to be changed before Sunday’s trip to Emirates if they want to end their string of Premier League losses.

Thiago Silva was forced to retire from a corner. N’Golo Kante scored through a deflection. Antonio Rudiger, who had just completed a set-piece, found room in the box to score.

Redknapp told SunSport: “I don’t know how you can do your homework before a game knowing full well that Silva is the main man in set pieces then get your three best markers on Romelu Lukaku instead.

“For me I don’t see why Nuno has got forwards marking the opposition’s best headers of the ball, because it happened again with Antonio Rudiger’s goal as well.

“This is something Nuno has got to tidy up ahead of the crunch North London derby tomorrow.”

Santo admitted that the upcoming clash is ‘more than just another game’ and will know that his side could even end up below their rivals should they suffer defeat by more than one goal.

He said: “It’s not another game – it’s a special game for us, for our fans. It’s going to be a tough match, but no doubt it’s a different game.

“I have many, many situations in derbies. This is a brand new situation, it’s tough and it’s special for our fans. If it’s special enough for our fans, it will be even more special for us.

“We expect a tough match and we have to compete. We have to give everything that we can and play good. Playing good is finding the right balance in our game.”

With rival boss Mikel Arteta saying of the meeting: “I can’t wait to have that experience. And I am saying supporters because I think that is the word to describe the people that are behind our football club.

“Because what they have done in the last few weeks has been pretty special. I think they only want the best for the club and it’s very different to be just a fan.

“A fan and a supporter behaves in different ways and what we have experienced in the last two games is pretty unique and is related to our history.”
