The new series of Great British Bake Off started this evening with a new batch of contestants hoping to be crowned the winner.
But, viewers of Channel 4 quickly became distracted by the similarities between Prue Leith and Maggie.
Viewers at home used social media to compare Prue Leith and Maggie.
One viewer tweeted, “Is Maggie Prue’s sister?”, with another saying “Maggie and Prue are the same person.”
“I’m convinced Prue is taking her glasses off between takes and rushing round the table to act as Maggie”, said a third person said on social media.
Judge Paul Hollywood also couldn’t seem to tell the difference during tonight’s episode too, when he accidently called Maggie “Prue” during the first round.
During the showstopper challenge, Paul Hollywood even gave Prue Leith’s glasses to Maggie to wear, in a nod to their similarities.
Maggie and Prue’s similarities are already proving to be a hit with audiences, with one viewer saying on Twitter, “Maggie and Prue is the duo we didn’t know we needed until now.”
Another tweeted, “Oh I love Prue already…I mean Maggie”, while another viewer said, “Maggie and Prue, definitely separated at birth.”
