With plans to return in 2022 “at the earliest” while touring with theatre production Looking Dead Good, Adam used some of his free time to help at a pal at the food stall.

A source told The Sun : “Adam had a day off between shows so decided to help a mate out,” and added that it looked like he knew what he was doing behind the bar.

Sources said that many people didn’t recognize him due to his appearance. Adam joked with those who did recognize him.

They added: “He joked with some punters that he wasn’t really the EastEnders legend – and he told some customers he was being paid in food!”

Adam’s decision to help a pal out came as his schedule has slowed down ever so slightly with the touring of the theatre production rather than rehearsals for he wild storylines on the evening soap.

The One Show previously reported that he is busy with the tour through October and his daughter’s wedding in the US shortly thereafter.

Adam said: “There is a possibility the tour will carry on until early next year, so if the tour carries on I won’t be back in EastEnders until 2022 at the earliest.”

The actor is the longest serving cast member after joining EastEnders for its first episode in 1985, so fans are certainly hopeful that the controversial Ian Beale will be back on screen as soon as possible.

It’s unclear how Ian will be received back on the Square, but it is likely that there will be drama with Sharon. Sharon was previously angry at Ian for locking Denny in a bedroom, which led to Denny’s death.
