Some of us remember Archie Comics, which tells the story of Archie, who lived in Riverdale, where he attended Riverdale High School. He was an ordinary teenager from a small town. His greatest love was Veronica Lodge, but he was also fond of Betty Cooper, making the love triangle the driving force behind many of the comics’ storylines.
You may have read some of them, but hopefully, you’ve read them all. Those of us who remember the comics get the biggest kick out of Riverdale. And season 6 gives us so much to talk about.
For a refresher, Archie Andrews discovers his love for music and his teacher. But after a teenager was murdered in Riverdale, a large group of teenagers, the jock Archie, the girl next door known as Betty, the new girl Veronica and the outcast Jughead try to refute the evil that quietly lives in this innocent town.
Business in Riverdale is not what it seems. Riverdale season 6 has finally premiered with its five-part event, Riverdale, on Nov. 16. Everything seemed right in this iconic alternative version of the city Riverdale. But the show is much more foreboding than it looks. There was a series of supernatural and creepy twists and turns, resulting in a surprising death that left many fans deep in thought.
Did Archie die in? Riverdale season 6? Let’s find out!
Season 6 Episode 1
Riverdale season 6 picked up after the events of the previous season, but not really. The couples created at the end of Season 5 are still together. Cheryl is still seeking revenge for the wrongful execution of her ancestor Abigail. Toni & Fangs are still raising baby Anthony. But in this alternate reality, a bomb never goes off in Archie’s room to kill him and his girlfriend.
Cheryl feels nostalgic, longing for Riverdale to go back to his old days of worshiping the Maple Maiden to restore the dead maple trees of Thornhill. But, unfortunately, that means that some page traditions, such as sacrifices, need to be brought back.
Throughout the episode she gives the Riverdale people express their wishes in exchange for their participation in a sacrificial ritual. She used pagan remedies to help Betty conceive, get rid of the cursed bugs in Jug & Tabitha’s apartment, and cure baby Anthony’s colic.
At the end of this Season 6 episode, the city comes together to take the life of their sacrifice, Archie. Cheryl stabs viciously Riverdale‘s hero, and reap his beating heart. It looked like Archie had passed away. But is he?
Ever since Riverdale set in an alternate reality, Archie would still be living in real life Riverdale, Yes? Well, according to Aguirre-Sacasa, not precisely. Riverdale show’s creator confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the events in the show will “affect” Riverdale when Season 6 resumes its regular schedule in March.
The creator said, “We thought, of course, it’s nice to have the freedom to do what you want and not worry about continuity and serialization, but we said, ‘What would be nice is if we could have a way to tell these stories in Riverdale and then somehow figure out that they were in continuity and that they influenced and informed the rest of season 6.
“In our minds, this is in continuity. This is part of Riverdale,” he added. The creator has also decided that Archie has indeed been murdered and will not appear in the next season of Riverdale. So in Season 6 Episode 2, the town doesn’t really mourn the iconic character, which makes sense since they killed him.
But Riverdale (as a city) is aware of the fact that they killed Archie. There is a scene where Cheryl and Nana toast Archie’s sacrifice because their maple trees are producing maple syrup again. It’s also worth mentioning that Betty is pregnant with Archie’s love child.
