Anthony Joshua paid a classy tribute to late YouTuber Pro Beez in the aftermath of his defeat against Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night.
Joshua was beaten convincingly by Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, slumping to the second loss of his professional career via unanimous decision (117-112, 116-112, 115-113) and surrendering his unified heavyweight titles in the process.
While the result was a disappointing one, AJ quickly put things into perspective after the defeat by paying tribute to Pro Beez, who sadly passed away at the age of 41 over the weekend.
The Pep Talk UK reporter, real name Frank Beccles, was at the Joshua vs Usyk press conference last Thursday and was due to attend the fight, meaning the boxing world was left stunned and saddened by news of his passing on Saturday.
Joshua expressed his disbelief at Beccles’ death while carrying out his post-fight media duties, before explaining his personal relationship with the popular Youtuber.
“I can’t believe [it]. When I heard the news I was baffled,” he told iFL TV.
“I don’t really like doing too many interviews. When we were in Finchley it was quite closed off, I’d rather people come and just relax with everyone in the gym rather than just making it about me, ‘cos it’s an amateur club so it’s a good environment in there and there’s loads of people in there.

“Pro Beez used to come down, chill out, we’d have a little conversation and stuff. He’d ask for an interview and I wouldn’t mind giving him some extra time.
“But it just shows you, that’s why I try to have a positive outlook on life, because you just never know what’s round the corner.

“I try not to focus too much on the negative because, rest in peace to Pro Beez, it’s a great lesson for me to learn that you never know what’s round the corner.
“I hope his family are good, I don’t know if he has kids or anything like that.
“But I was baffled. He was at the press conference, I saw him. I didn’t get to speak to him, but I just see him out the corner of my eye.
“And just like that *clicks fingers*. It’s sad news.
“But at least he got to experience what life’s like on earth. That’s how you have to look at the positive.
“We’re all gonna go one day, so we all get to experience what it’s like living but we’re all gonna go one day.”
