Who is Dhruv Rathee? 

Dhruv Rathee is a well-known name in the top 10 YouTubers list. who is an engineer, and activist. He rose to popularity for speaking up for the Indian political parties and environmental issues. According to his YouTube videos and speeches, it seems like Dhruv is a supporter of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). However, when interviewed about the same, Rathee mentioned that he didn’t support a particular group. His only ambition is to put his message across. 

Biography

Dhruv Rathee was born on 8th October 1994, as in 2020, he is 26 years old. Since childhood, he was interested in participating in political and environmental campaigns. He became a YouTuber in 2014 when he started his official channel “Dhruv Rathee”. Initially, he posted some travel videos using his iPhone. It was the 2011 Anna Hazare movement that inspired him to focus on the political and some serious topics. That’s when he quit his regular travel blog and worked on political topics.

His first video was the even-odd traffic rules in the capital of India, New Delhi. Dhruv belongs to Jatt and he is a Hindu by religion. There is not a lot of information available about his parents and culture. However, he had posted a picture with his girlfriend on Instagram in 2016.

Career

From a very young age, Dhruv was a studious kid. He completed his primary education from a CBSE school in India and enrolled in an engineering college in Germany to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degree in renewable energy engineering. Initially, Dhruv Rathee pursued his career as a mechanical engineer. Later, he started to make YouTube videos on political and environmental issues in India and attracted a large audience.

Controversies

• According to TheWikiFeed, Rathee’s Facebook page had been suspended for a short while after he uploaded a long post on Adolf Hitler. The post was misinterpreted and his account got suspended. However, his account was revived in a few days.
• Though he never accepts it, people believe that Rathee’s videos are all biased. He supports the Aam Aadmi Party and opposes BJP. All his videos and social campaigns seem biased. 
• Vikas Pandey, the BJL volunteer, had filed a police report against Dhruv for broadcasting fake news on his YouTube channel. Dhruv had allegedly said that Vikas was spreading rumors and false information on Facebook. Dhruv had uploaded a video that accused Vikas Pandey of bribing Mahaveer Prasad. However, Vikas Pandey did not take it well and filed a police complaint against the Delhi-based mechanical engineer cum YouTuber.
