Vertical Entertainment has released the official trailer for its fantasy drama film The Lost Girls, which reimagines J.M. Barrie’s classic Peter Pan story. It is scheduled to premiere on June 17.
The Lost Girls trailer, which you can check out below, features the women of the Darling family as they can’t seem to escape Peter’s hold on them, even after they’ve grown older.
Based on author Laurie Fox’s 2003 novel of the same name, the film is written and directed by Italian actress Livia De Paolis (Emoticon 😉), who’s also starring as the grown-up Wendy. Joining her are Ella-Rae Smith, Joely Richardson, Vanessa Redgrave, Julian Ovenden, Parker Sawyers, Louis Partridge, and Iain Glen.
“The Lost Girls will be following the four generations of Darling women as they struggle to cope with the aftermath of their adventures with Peter Pan in Neverland,” reads the synopsis. “The film will tell how Wendy struggles to retain her creative spirit after her fantastical journeys with Pan.
Like her grandmother and her mother Jane, Wendy must escape Peter’s hold on her and the promises he desperately wants her to keep. As her daughter Berry comes into Peter’s orbit, Wendy must fight to save her relationship with her daughter while reconciling her legacy.”
The Lost Girls is produced by Chris Curling and Meta Valentic (Ladrón Que Roba a Ladrón) with Myriad Pictures’ Kirk D’Amico and Ingenious Media’s Peter Touche serving as executive producers.
