With a whopping budget of 65 crores, Thalaivi ( meaning boss ) is a PAN ( presence worldwide) is a biographical film based on the six times elected chief minister of Tamil Nadu, the former actress, Jayalalitha. She is much more than an insane celebrity in the whole of south India.
The movie has been directed by AL Vijay and has a unique appearance of Aravind Swami as MGR. Kangana, the lead star of the film, has been adamant about getting the movie released in theatres as she believes it belongs there only and the essence of the movie, its execution will take an ethereal form only on the big screen.

The movie shall be produced by Vibri Motion Pictures and Karma Media Entertainment.
The movie was initially scheduled to be released on 26th June 2020, but the COVID pandemic made it impossible for the makers to realize their aspirations of having a big-screen release.
Thalaivi To Release On Big Screen or OTT?
Even though the year 2020 was the year of the rise of the OTT platform in India, the makers of the very much anticipated Kangana starrer Thalaivi are hesitating for a digital release. The movie was scheduled to release as a multi lingua franca premiere covering Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil-speaking diaspora on 23rd April 2021.
Since the movie was all grandeur, glorifying the immortal soul of Jaya Lalitha, the OTT platforms were all ears offering a massively impressing deal to the makers since such patriotic biopics have been a massive hit as per the records.
