Sometimes just the looming threat of idols and benefits is enough to confuse everyone. On Wednesday’s episode Survivor, none of the bonus goodies actually got played, but that didn’t stop the swirling paranoia from messing with players’ minds.
Despite surviving the insanity of the Tribal Council last week, confidence among the former Yase members seems to have been completely destroyed. Evvie and Liana look broken, while Xander considers cutting ties with both Tiffany and Evvie. As Evvie embarks on a “relationship recovery tour,” they tell us through an interview that they think Yase is done for good. As for Deshawn, he knows that the Yase tribe targeted him last week, and he wants them all gone as soon as possible.
REWARD CHALLENGE | Before the logs enter, we see Jeff hiding a perk under the bench seat. The challenge requires players to jump off a ramp, dive down and release puzzle pieces. Once all the pieces are collected, teams must pull themselves to the finish line on a rope and complete a puzzle. The first team to finish wins grilled cheese and chips back at camp.
They pull bricks for teams, and Erica pulls the only gray one, earning her a spot on the couch. But before she can actually sit outside, Xander offers to trade places with her, unknowingly denying her the chance to find Probst’s hidden treasure.
Both teams are neck-and-neck in the challenge, but once they get to the final stage, Evvie remembers the pyramid puzzle from the Edge of Extinction season. They make quick work of the puzzle and the blue team wins the grub. Xander, meanwhile, fails to find the advantage right under his nose.
CAMP | The losers take the loss hard and their hunger brings Shan and Liana to tears. But while Evvie and their crew are having a blast, Shan uses it as an opportunity to throw Evvie’s name under the bus. She also tries to recruit Xander, but is her plea enough to get him on her side?
IMMUNITY IS BACK UP BEFORE THE Grabbing | Players must balance on their toes with a block of wood between their head and the top of a wooden frame. If the block falls, they are out. The last one standing is safe with tonight’s Tribal.
Before they begin, Jeff offers a tasty temptation: One player can choose not to take the challenge for a single serving of rice. However, if the group decides to sit outside with several people, he gives the tribe a bag of rice that will feed them for three days. But: they have to negotiate how many castaways will sit. After some back and forth, Jeff and the group agree that five is the right number. Shan and Naseer offer themselves, but when no one else bites, Xander renegotiates their deal with four people. Jeff agrees, and Xander and Ricard both step forward, sparing the rice for the tribe.
Those who actually take part in the challenge drop like flies, leaving Liana, Evvie, and Heather as the last three. Just minutes later, Evvie wins the coveted immunity chain.
STRATEGY | Evvie’s victory thwarts the majority’s plan, forcing them to compete for a Plan B. Shan, Naseer, Danny and Ricard talk about driving Xander’s idol away and taking out Tiffany in one fell swoop. But when Danny splits the mood between Tiffany and Naseer instead, it falls on deaf ears. Shan can’t even admit the idea that multiple people, especially Deshawn, seem to be rubbing the wrong way. Names fly left and right, causing Tiffany’s paranoia to skyrocket. When Heather’s name is dropped, Shan gets annoyed at him for even suggesting using her as bait.
TRIBE COUNCIL | Based on last week’s impeachment, no one feels safe, and rightly so. Danny tells Jeff that after last week’s fight, Xander, Evvie, and Tiffany are behaving like they’re no longer an alliance, but he doesn’t know what to believe. Evvie then confirms to the group that the Yase three are now just individuals. But are they telling the truth?
Just as the group is about to vote, Heather tells Jeff she needs a few minutes. She stands up and again Tribal turns into a swarm of whispers. Heather wants to change the mood in Naseer, and soon after, no one seems to know what’s going on. Deshawn doesn’t want to deviate from the original plan (whatever that may be), causing him to lose his temper with Shan again as he tries to tell him what to do. Someone suggests changing the voice to Heather (which would be crazy if she talked her way out of this game), while Ricard urges Xander to play his idol.
It becomes quiet and everyone votes. When Jeff reads the results, zero idols or advantages are played. Tiffany is then shown the door with five votes to her name.
