Resident Evil Netflix Series Release Date Revealed in Key Art

Netflix has finally announced the release date for its upcoming live-action TV adaptation of Resident Evil, featuring an ensemble cast led by John Wick alum Lance Reddick. The action-horror drama will be available for streaming on Thursday, July 14.

The announcement also comes with the release of the first set of Resident Evil key art, which you can check out below, featuring a bloody pill and test tube that highlights the familiar infectious T-virus.

“Set in the year 2036, 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures,” reads the synopsis. “In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.”

Based on Capcom’s popular video game franchise, the live-action Resident Evil series hails from Supernatural executive producer Andrew Dabb, who is serving as a writer, executive producer, and showrunner. It will reportedly be set between two timelines featuring the same protagonist. It stars John Wick star Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, the villainous head of Umbrella Corporation. The character was previously portrayed by Jason O’Mara and Shawn Roberts in the Milla Jovovich-led live-action films, and by Tom Hopper in the recent reboot Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.

Additional cast includes Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels), Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Tamara Smart (A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting), Siena Agudong (No Good Nick), and Paola Nuñez (Bad Boys for Life) along with Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti and Turlough Convery.

The eight-episode series is also written and executive produced by Mary Leah Sutton, with Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben set as executive producers. Constantin Film, the studio behind the blockbuster film franchise, is the project’s studio with CEO Martin Moszkowicz also producing.
