Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers will be led by John Mulaney (Saturday Night Live) as Chip, Andy Samberg (Palm Springs) as Dale and KiKi Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk). It will also feature the voices of Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Tress MacNeille, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, and Chris Parnell.
“In the film, Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different now,” reads the synopsis. “It has been decades since their successful television series was canceled, and Chip has succumbed to a life of suburban domesticity as an insurance salesman. Dale, meanwhile, has had CGI surgery and works the nostalgia convention circuit, desperate to relive his glory days. When a former cast mate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend’s life.”
Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is directed by Akiva Schaffer from a screenplay written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. Producers are Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman, with Alexander Young and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers.
Created by Tad Stones and Alan Zaslove, the original series aired on The Disney Channel from 1989 to 1990 (a preview episode aired on August 27, 1988). It featured Chip ‘n Dale along with their friends Gadget Hackwrench, Zipper, and Monterey Jack as they faced off against some of the most outrageous villains the world has ever seen.
