Proud mum gives birth to ‘eBaby’ after ordering artificial insemination kit online

Mum Stephenie Taylor has an “eBaby” thanks to a kit from the auction website.

She was desperate for a second child but didn’t want another relationship, and private fertility clinics were too costly at around £1,600.

She ordered sperm via the Just A Baby app and watched YouTube videos on how to use it.

After her donor visited her home to drop off his fertile sperm, baby Eden was born immediately.

Stephenie, 33, said that Baby Eden is an online baby. It is almost a miracle.

“If I didn’t have access to all that electronically then she wouldn’t be here. But I’m over the moon to be a mum again and I’m proud of the way she came into the world.”

Stephenie, of Nunthorpe, Teeside, already had son Frankie, who turns five next month, with an ex-partner.

She didn’t want him as an only child, and she wanted to have a complete family.

Although she was initially interested in private fertility clinics, she was discouraged by the high cost. She didn’t want her son to be unhappy.

A pal recommended the Just A Baby App. Just like Tinder, you can swipe right to show interest in someone’s profile.

Stephenie sought a man who was family-oriented and had no history of serious illness. She wanted someone similar to her features so that Frankie would look like Frankie. Within a matter of days, she found her match.

After three weeks of messaging, he finally dropped off his sperm in her home in January 2020.

She said: “He was nice, warm and friendly and we had a cup of tea and chatted about the weather.”

She used the sample to inseminate herself and two weeks later found out she was pregnant.

Her mum and sister were delighted but Stephenie said it took her dad a while to get on board but now thinks it was a “brilliant decision.”

Stephenie welcomed 6lb 13oz Eden on October 15 last year and texted her donor to let him know.

She said she will have no problem if Eden wants to meet the “DNA contributor” when she is older.

The donor, who wants to stay anonymous, said: “She is an amazing person and I’m happy to do it again if she’d like more children in the future.”
