Princess Beatrice has given birth to her first child with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
The York couple have welcomed a beautiful 6lb 2oz baby girl as the latest addition to the ever-growing royal family.
According to the announcement, the princess was born at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals.
This child is the second grandchild to Prince Andrew, Sarah, Duchess, and Sarah, Duchess, of York.
Beatrice was admitted to a London Hospital on Saturday evening. It was then announced that she had delivered.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.
“The baby weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces.
“The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news. The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple is looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge retweeted the announcement on their official Twitter page as royal fans have been flooding Twitter with their congratulations.
One user wrote: “Bravo to the proud parents. We hope mother and child are safe.”
Another added: “Bravo to this beautiful family!”
A third said: “It’s wonderful news. Congratulations to Princess Beatrice and Eduardo on the birth of their daughter..”
The Queen now welcomes the arrival of her twelfth great-grandchild as the monarch is already great-grandmother to Savannah and Isla Phillips, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, Mia, Lena and Lucas Tindall, Archie Harrison-Mountbatten-Windsor, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten Windsor and August Brooksbank.
Beatrice and Edoardo married in July 2020 and an announcement of the pregnancy came less than a year later as they revealed they were expecting in May 2021.
Due to coronavirus restrictions at the time, the private ceremony was attended by the couple’s closest friends and family, including the Queen and the late Duke of Edinburgh.
The Princess of York was moved to 10th place when Harry and Meghan’s baby, Lilibet Diana was born on June 4.
The child of the princess will be 11th in line for the throne at birth, meaning that Princess Eugenie’s younger sister is now 12th.
Eugenie and Jack have moved to the 13th position in the line-of-successive order.
The baby will not be a princess, despite the fact that her mother was the Princess.
However, the baby will have a title of sorts due to Edoardo’s heritage.
Beatrice’s husband, an Italian count, is by birth. His family descends from Italian aristocracy.
They are the proud owners of Villa Mapelli Mozzi, Bergamo.
This means that their child will be able to hold the honorary title Count (if he is male) or Nobile Dolce (if she is female).
After marrying Edoardo, Princess Beatrice became a Countess.
