Updated register numbers for Spider-Man: No Way Homes opening pin is higher than Avengers: Infinity War.
Original opening weekend songs for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home saw the film gross $253 million. That number gave the Spidey threequel the third-highest opening weekend of all time. Of course, things aren’t what they always seem, and the film’s opening weekend numbers have been updated. The film’s latest figures are a cool $260 million, making it the second-highest opening weekend of all time.
Spider-Man is clearly an overachiever as it beats new record Avengers: Infinity War, which debuted at $257 million all the way back in 2018. Currently, Spider-Man: No Way Home is the highest-grossing film domestically in the pandemic era. What makes Spidey’s early checkout days so exciting is that it performs just as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, proving that fans are ready to show up to see the web-slinger do his thing.
Since the movie is already running faster Avengers: Infinity War, it’s almost certain that the film will gross more than $1 billion — the project to do so in the pandemic era. It remains to be seen how much the film will ultimately make as restrictions around the world begin to surface as the number of COVID-19 cases increases. Avengers: Infinity War ended its run with a whopping $2.04 billion. As great as it would be to show Spidey that, it’s uncertain whether theaters can meet fan demand due to increasing restrictions and mandates.
