Moment Wayne Couzens shown photo of Sarah Everard days after he raped and murdered her

Footage of Wayne Couzens being interviewed about Sarah Everard for the first time has been released.

Couzens disappeared on March 3rd. Detectives are holding up a photo of her on their phone.

Couzens, 48, has pleaded guilty and can be seen looking at Sarah Everard’s image from the armchair.

The Old Bailey was shown on Wednesday the clip in which the murderous 48-year-old claimed Romanian gang forced him to kidnap a woman, the Mirror reports.

Couzens adds in the video from March 9, that he has no idea where Sarah was having been told her family are “really worried” about her disappearance.

When directly asked if he knows where Sarah is, the then-police officer – wearing a white shirt and shorts – shakes his head and says no.

Later on, wearing handcuffs as he sits in an armchair, Couzens said he was in “financial s***” and had been “leant on” by a gang to pick up girls for them.

In footage released by police, Couzens claims he had tried to “rip off” one of their call girls and the gang had approached him during another booking with her at the Burstin Hotel, in Folkestone.

He said they later put pressure on him after turning up at his home address and he just “drove around aimlessly and at random” to find someone.

Couzens said he handed Ms Everard over to the gang, who he said were from the “Bulgaria, Romania, Albania” region, near Charing racecourse, in Ashford, Kent.

He said he was pushed against the front of his car and the gang drove off with “the girl”.

When asked about Ms. Everard’s location, he repeated his insistence that he didn’t know.

“If I could do something to get her back right this minute, I would,” he said, but added: “I’ll do it again tomorrow if it means saving my family… these guys mean business.”
