Manchester United have snapped up highly-rated youngster Harrison Parker following his exit from Arsenal this summer.
Parker, 15, announced the move to United via social media Monday. He confirmed that he had been awarded a contract following impressing at trial.
He wanted to pursue his career outside the Emirates and quit the Gunners in January.
United faced stiff competition to sign England’s youth international. But, United defeated a number big-name rivals to capture the defender. He has since been signed by their U15 side.
Parker shared a picture on social media of himself in his Red Devils shirt, which featured the No.5 on its back. He spoke about his joy at the move.
“Excited to have officially signed for @manchesterunited,” he wrote on Instagram. “The new chapter starts and the hard work continues.”
Parker impressed United coaches on a summer trip, which was to Northern Ireland in celebration of the club’s landmark 1991 Milk Cup win.
United defeated Hearts in a decider in the U16 division of the famous youth tournament.
The match is not only remembered for their result but also for the stars who were there and who went on to be great under Sir Alex Ferguson.
