Man Utd hero explains Cristiano Ronaldo’s training secrets that are on “another level”

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has explained the extreme lengths Cristiano Ronaldo would go to in training to set himself apart from the rest.

Scholes and Ronaldo were team-mates for six years at Old Trafford during the 36-year-old’s first stint with United from 2003-2009.

During that period they achieved enormous success under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson, winning three Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup and a League Cup.

Ronaldo’s individual progression, which included winning his first Ballon d’Or in 2008, saw him move onto Real Madrid, and Scholes has now revealed how the Portugal international achieved such greatness.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s training practices were on “another level” according to Paul Scholes

When asked a question about Ronaldo and former United number seven Eric Cantona, Scholes set out the reason why he is on “another level” to the Frenchman.

He told Premier League Productions: “Eric was very similar but Cristiano was still on another level from that. Eric did go out and practice but he wasn’t so much a gym person.

“Cristiano did all of his practicing before and after training and also made sure he was stronger for the Premier League by going into the gym afterwards.

Where does Ronaldo rank in the Premier League’s best ever players? Let us know in the comments section.

“I’ve never seen a more professional person.

“He was out there all day long, practicing those free kicks, his speed, he was sprinting up hills, he had weights on his ankles.

“He was doing everything that the likes of the British players hadn’t seen. That wasn’t it, he was in the gym afterwards, just doing everything to prepare himself.”

Ronaldo’s return thus far has been very successful with four goals in three games

Ronaldo has enjoyed a fabulous start to his Red Devils return, netting in all three of the games he’s played so far.

Remarkably, he has already equalled Alexis Sanchez and Angel Di Maria’s Premier League goal tallies for the club after just two matches.

His former club Juventus, meanwhile, have had the opposite opening to their season. They are in the Serie A relegation zone after losing their star man.
