Shortly after the release of the latest trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans began tearing down the leaked video frame by frame on social media. Given ongoing reports that Garfield and Maguire will reprise their roles as Peter Parker in No Way Home, fans hoped the new footage would hint at their appearance. While they may not be featured in the teaser, Disney may have edited both actors to avoid spoilers.
Looks like Disney edited Maguire and Garfield from Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer and fans were quick to point it out!
The shot at 2 minutes 22 seconds in the trailer is the most recognized evidence for this view. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man waves goodbye in Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman, while Jaime Foxx’s Electro and Rhys Ifans’ Lizard don’t care. Rumor has it that Garfield and Maguire are the remaining targets just removed from the trailer. Here’s how fans have reacted to the scene.

I say they removed Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield from the trailer

To add fuel to the fire, a clip from the Brazilian montage of the film hints that No Way Home will feature a lot of Spider-Men. The aforementioned sequence is slightly expanded in this version of the trailer, indicating that The Lizard is hit by an invisible punch. Since there doesn’t seem to be any debris hitting the bad guy, people think there’s also a Spider-Man other than Holland in the fight.
So Lizard is fighting a ghost?! Yes, they took Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield out of this scene. They are 100% in the movie! #SpiderManNoWayHome pic.twitter.com/IHJMsGlXKB

This wouldn’t be the best time Marvel and Disney changed the trailer
If Marvel Studios can fake us in one trailer, they can do it again. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are definitely in this scene #SpiderManNoWayHome pic.twitter.com/sVY1lJQydW

This isn’t the first time Marvel and Disney have changed the trailer video to avoid revealing surprises. Both the Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War commercials used altered imagery to avoid revealing narrative details. Spider-Man was even hacked out of another MCU video, with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker missing from several key shots during the Captain America: Civil War teaser.
Speculation has been circulating for months about Garfield and Maguire’s involvement in No Way Home. Both actors flatly turned down their roles in the film.
