One of the top grosser Malayalam films of the year, Kurup starring Dulquer Salman, is all set to premiere on your digital screens soon after getting a fantastic collection at the box office worldwide.
The film is based on the real-life events of Kerala’s most wanted criminal (Fugitive) Sukumara Kurup. The film also faced controversy for glorifying a criminal on screen.
KURUP THEATRICAL RELEASE DATE
Kurup is directed by Srinath Rajendran and bankrolled by Wayfarer Films with the collaboration of M Star Entertainments.
This long-awaited project of Dulquer’s was released on 12 November 2021 in theatres worldwide, along with its dubbed versions of 4 languages named Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
Made on a budget of around Rs 35 crore and reportedly collected over Rs 80 crores at the box office so far. Salman’s performance got praise all over; now, people can watch this thrilling film on OTT too.
KURUP REVIEW IN BRIEF
This was also the first Mollywood film whose trailer was showcased on the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa, Dubai. The film received terrific reviews from the critics and the audience, particularly for the story and the dialogues, screenplay written by K.S. Daniel Sayooj Nair writes Arvind and the conversations.
KURUP OVER THE TOP (OTT) RELEASE DATE
Talking about its digital premiere, the post-theatrical digital rights of the film are acquired by the leading streaming platform Netflix.
Though Netflix hasn’t announced the release date yet, it is most likely possible that the film is going to premiere on the digital platform after one month of its theatrical release as most of the Indian movies are doing the same nowadays, like Sooryavanshi, Doctor, Thalaivi, Bell Bottom, etc. So Netflix will announce the date soon.
Nimish Ravi has handled the cinematography, Vivek Harshan does the editing, and Sushin Shyam gives the music; Jithin K. Jose is the story writer. The film has a runtime of 2hr37minutes.
Apart from Dulquer, it features Sobhita Dhulipala, Shine Tom Chacko, Sunny Wayne, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas Bharath Srinivasan in pivotal roles. Dulquer will next be seen in the action-thriller Salute; he is also the producer of Salute.
