Kamathipura Release Date Postponed due to the new 2021 OTT Rules

Kamathipura is one of the most anticipated web series of 2021. The web series was all set to release sometime in March 2021; however, things seem to have turned against the web series. The introduction of the new guidelines for OTT platforms in India is the sole reason why the makers of the film saw fit to delay the release date of the series, indefinitely.

Disney+Hotstar was already negotiated to release the web series, but the regulations have blocked its release.

Meera Chopra, the lead actress of the most-promising series of 2021 on Twitter revealed the makers’ decision. The tweet also revealed that there isn’t a proper date at the time of writing as to when the series will premiere. Further, this also suggests that there will be several changes in the series due to the guidelines before the series releases on Disney+Hotstar.

 

Kamathipura: Storyline and Plot

The series foretells the stories which are intertwined across the popular red-light area in Mumbai. The officials of Disney+Hotstar were the first source to reveal the storyline and the premise of the Kamathipura. Kamathipura also covers three murders and the mystery behind them.

Previous speculations suggested that the series will transcend viewers to experience the most difficult journey to uncover the underbelly criminal network of Mumbai. The makers have skillfully addressed the issues like narcotics, financial, protection money, human trafficking, and murder.

Kamathipura: Cast

The series does feature an incredible star cast alongside a very powerful script. The web series has cast actors like Meera Chopra, Tanuj Virwani, Anang Desai, and Varun Joshi. Kulbhushan Kharbanda is cast in the series in a disclosed role but an important one.

Initially, Kamathipura was to be released on Amazon Prime Video; however, the digital rights went to Disney + Hotstar. As soon as the release date is revealed, we’ll share it with our readers and audience.
