Illumination Sets Release Dates for Despicable Me 4 and Migration

Gru and the Minions are coming back as Universal Pictures and Illumination announced the release dates for a fourth Despicable Me film.

Despicable Me 4 is set to arrive in theaters on July 3, 2024, and will see Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Miranda Cosgrove, and Steve Coogan all return in their original starring roles. The film will be directed by Chris Renaud, who also directed the first two Despicable Me films, with Patrick Delage co-directing a script from Mike White. No details on the film have been revealed just yet.

Alongside the news of Despicable Me 4, Illumination and Universal also announced that Migration, an original animated film from Illumination, will release in theaters on June 30, 2023. This film will follow the story of a family of ducks, with Illumination describing it as “modern-day comedy following a family of ducks who convince their over-protective father to go on the vacation of a lifetime as they attempt to migrate from New England, through New York City, and ultimately down to the Bahamas.”

Migration will be produced by Illumination founder Chris Meledandri and directed by Oscar nominee Benjamin Renner (Ernest et Célestine), with an original screenplay by Mike White.
