Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hailed Ibrahima Konate after the defender made his Anfield debut in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Reds splashed out £36m to snap up the ex-RB Leipzig man in the summer.
Fans are still waiting to see the 22 year-old.
Konate partnered Virgil van Dijk as the Liverpool defense’s heart, where they defeated a determined Palace team thanks to goals by Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Klopp was delighted to see Konate in Reds gear for the first time.
“You can see he is incredibly talented,” said the Liverpool boss.
“The potential is outstanding. He is used to winning challenges easy. He is young and he played a really good game. Massive. First home game for him.
“You want the team watching the games to see what you do. It is important to learn from what we see. He did a great job. There is so much potential.

“He will get better. Today, against Benteke and [Odsonne] Edouard and [Wilfred] Zaha, there were situations where it is new for him. Step by step.”
The Frenchman made a nervy start but grew in confidence and stature as the game wore on.
After Christian Benteke, a Belgian player, was placed behind the Reds defense, Klopp showed an impressive turn of speed to defeat him.
Mane scored the winning goal against the stubborn visitors, after Vicente Guaita had failed to score Salah from the corner.
Salah sealed the deal with a goal at the far post. Keita then added gloss to the score with a late stunner.
Liverpool is now at the top of Premier League, ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United’s games on Sunday.
The Reds have now kept four clean sheets in five matches and conceded only one goal this season.
Klopp acknowledged it was not an easy game against Patrick Viera’s Reds.
“It is one of the most hard-fought 3-0s ever,” added the Liverpool boss.
“We had to give everything. Hard but fair challenges. Physicality was immense and we had to be ready. The chips in behind our full-back gave us trouble. The longer it went they used that more and more. We had to run.
“It’s really difficult to keep the Wednesday/Saturday rhythm. We scored some great goals and made use of our set-pieces. It’s huge in games like these. These are the games you need to win, even if your skills aren’t great.
“We weren’t flying today. We had to grind out a proper performance. I liked it. When you look back you have these games when it was really fun. And some was it was important. This is one of those important games.”
