Home and Away and Neighbours star Johnny Ruffo has taken to social media to share an update with his fans as he battles brain cancer for a second time.

The 32 year-old has been sharing his chemotherapy journey on Instagram with his fans.

While on a scenic walk with his girlfriend Tahnee he decided to check in with his fans and revealed that he was “exhausted” but was still fighting on.

He wrote: “Cracking day for a walk. Just thought I’d jump on and give an update…

“I’m still kicking along with my chemotherapy treatment, feeling pretty exhausted but I’m doing great otherwise and not giving up the fight. Thanks for all the support!!”

Johnny wore a black cap and jumper as he beamed for a selfie with his girlfriend, who he has been dating since 2015.

From 2013 to 2016, he played the role of Chris Harrington on the Australian soap. He also starred in Neighbours as Owen Campbell from 2020.

Johnny had surgery to remove his brain tumour in August 2017. The doctors discovered it accidentally while he had a migraine.

After his surgery, he underwent both chemotherapy and radiotherapy, later revealed he was caner free in an interview in May 2019.

However in November 2020, Johnny shared that his cancer has come back “after an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches”.

He said in a statement on social media: “After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned.”

Johnny assured fans: “Though I will dig deep and beat this s**t disease again,” adding the hashtag “F**k cancer.”

In an interview about his diagnosis on Australia’s The Morning Show, the actor credited his support network for helping him during such a challenging time.

Johnny said: “It’s about the support group around you and not being afraid to ask for help. It’s not just related to my experience with cancer – everyone goes through something that’s tough, that they might feel is too hard to handle on their own.

“When you do go through these things, there’s always someone to help you,” he insisted.
