Gorilla and the Bird is an upcoming American drama television miniseries. Written by Bryan Sipe, the series is based on the memoir of the same name by Zack McDermott.

The series was to be directed by Jean-Marc Vallée before his death in December 2021. The limited series ordered by HBO was announced on December 10, 2018.

The release date of the series, Gorilla and the Bird has not been confirmed any release date yet. For now, we can expect it in late 2022 or mid-2023.

The number of episodes have not been confirmed for the miniseries, although it is expected to have six or eight. Other details regarding the show are expected to be announced soon.

Gorilla and the Bird Plot and Cast

The series, based on the memoir by Zack McDermott, is an inspirational tale of a mother’s unconditional love for her bipolar son. Zack fights to regain his sanity after a devastating psychotic break, turning to the only person who didn’t give up on him – his mother.

Once a highly successful public defender for the Legal Aid Society of New York, Zack goes on a harrowing journey of delusions and antisocial behavior, leading to his eventual arrest and commitment to Bellevue Hospital.

Now talking about the cast, it includes Besides Vallée, who will serve as director and executive producer, Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, and Peter Kiernan will executive produce with their production company, Free Association, the team behind 22 Jump Street and Magic Mike franchises.

Nathan Ross, Robin Schwartz, Marc Turtletaub, and Peter Saraf of Big Beach are also the executive producers. Showrunner Bryan Sipe will serve as writer and executive producer with author Zack McDermott as co-executive producer.
