Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit Aged 81 Passes Away

Senior Congress leader and 3-time chief minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit has breathed her last breath at 3:30 PM today in Delhi’s Fortis Escorts Heart Institute. She was admitted there at around 10.30 AM this morning.

She is said to be having cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). It is said that she had to be kept on a ventilator. The longest-serving chief minister underwent heart surgery in France the previous year.

It is said that Sheila Dikshit has been undergoing treatment under the supervision of Dr. Seth at Fortis Escorts Hospital. Sheila served as chief minister of Delhi for a long period of 15 years from 1998 to 2013 making her the longest-serving chief minister.

“Sheila Dikshit was managed well by a team of doctors. At 3:15 pm she again suffered a cardiac arrest. She was put on ventilator and at 3:55 pm she passed away peacefully,” Dr Ashok Seth, Director, Escorts Fortis said.

Sheila Dikshit was awarded ‘Best CM of India’, ‘Politician of the Year’ and ‘Delhi Women of the Decade Achievers Award 2013’. Her contribution to the development of Delhi was much appreciated.
