To get a little more detail on some of the specific struggles ahead, check out The good doctor season 5 episode 5 recap:
“Crazy Town” – Dr. park and dr. Murphy treat an elderly Asian man who was brought to St. Bonaventure by his daughter after being the victim of a hate crime. Plus, Lea is behind Shaun’s back to boost his negative patient satisfaction scores on an all-new “The Good Doctor,” MONDAY NOV. 1 (10:00-11:00 a.m. EDT), on ABC. Watch episodes on demand and on Hulu the day after their premiere.
As many of you know, Salen relies heavily on these scores to better judge the right way forward in the hospital – and it’s also a huge problem for someone like Shaun, who cares about saving lives and not necessarily the bed. Lea clearly wants to help him, but isn’t that putting her job on the line? She puts herself in a Real delicate position and it remains to be seen how she will find her way out of it.
The other storyline in this episode, meanwhile, focuses hard on a major issue in this country: hate crimes against Asian Americans. It’s been here for decades, but escalated shortly after the onset of the global health crisis. Be prepared for this to be a topical and quite emotional episode that takes a close look at where we are.
