Fans have been left baffled after seeing Ed Sheeran in the crowd at the Parc des Princes watching the Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.
Cameras captured Sheeran standing in the crowd shortly after PSG took the lead. Neymar had set up Idrissa Guieye within the first ten minutes of the match in France.
PSG maintained their lead through the interval, while City came close on several occasions. Raheem Sterling hit the crossbar and Bernardo Silva hit it in quick succession as City chased an equaliser.
The British singer’s attendance at the match caught the attention on social media.
One fan wrote on Twitter: “Thanks for showing us Ed Sheeran was at the PSG game wouldn’t have slept tonight without knowing if he was there.”
Another added: “Beautiful assist and they suddenly showed Ed Sheeran’s face, I almost jumped.”
The ball fell to Gueye inside the box after a fine passing move from PSG with Neymar’s under-hit shot falling into the path of the former Everton and Aston Villa midfielder.
One fan noted that Sheeran was actually watching the match rather than his beloved Ipswich Town, which are also on tonight’s action.
Who will win this year’s Champions League? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
They tweeted: “What is Ed Sheeran doing watching PSG v City, especially when Ipswich are at home to Doncaster in League One tonight.”
Another wrote: “Messi, Neymar, Grealish, Sterling, Mbappe etc… are playing and they’d rather put the camera on Ed Sheeran!”
If PSG hold on to their lead in the second half they will leapfrog City in their group and would sit joint top with Club Brugge who lead RB Leipzig 2-1 at half-time in Germany.
