Hafthor Bjornsson has been mocked by strongman rival Eddie Hall for “beating an old man up” in a boxing bout on Saturday night.
The Icelandic giant, who gained fame as Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane on Game of Thrones, was scheduled to fight Hall after months of bitterness between the two former World’s Strongest Man winners.
The injury to his bicep forced Hall to withdraw from the fight. Devon Larratt, an arm wrestling legend, stepped in with just five weeks notice.
The first round TKO win in Dubai by Thor saw him overcome so powerfully that the referee was forced to stop the fight.
But, rather predictably, Hall was unimpressed with Bjornsson’s performance and took to social media to mock his rival.
“Well done to Thor for beating an old man up with five weeks training,” He wrote sarcastically on Facebook.
Hall, 33, was full praise for Larratt.
“Fair play to him for taking this fight,” He added. “Jokes aside, he’s got balls of steel.”

Thor also had lots of kind words to say about the Canadian for stepping in and taking part in the fight.
“Devon is such a warrior – he has the biggest heart,” The Icelandic strongman agreed. “I know that guy is something else – taking the fight on five weeks’ notice is brave, but coming here is mind-blowing.”
He couldn’t resist taking aim at Hall, his opponent.
“I know Eddie is at home chilling on the sofa with his popcorn and cola. Enjoy your life, buddy. I’m going to knock you out soon,” He laughed.
After undergoing surgery to repair his bicep injury, Hall is back in training.

The Briton’s fight with Bjornsson has been rescheduled for March 2022, but no date has been set.
Despite Thor’s dominance over Larratt, Hall remains confident he will be victorious in the ring over the man who took his World’s Strongest Man title in 2018.
“It’s put a lot more confidence in me watching his fights, because I know what I’m capable of. I know what I can do,” the Staffordshire strongman said.
“I’ve put absolutely zero content out there, and I know for a fact that’s going to be getting in his head as well that he doesn’t know what’s coming.
“You can see that he will have sleepless nights. But I will sleep like a newborn because I know what is coming and I am not afraid of it.
