Jennifer Lawrence, best known for X-Men, American Hustle and The Hunger Games, plays astronomy student Kate Dibiasky in her first major film since 2019’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio plays Kate Dibiasky’s astronomy professor, Dr. Randall Mindy, following his last major film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Of course, he’s also super famous for his role in Titanic, The Great Gatsby, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Revenant.
They are joined by fellow Oscar winners, Meryl Streep (Sophie’s Choice, Out Of Africa, The Iron Lady) and Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth, The Aviator).
Don’t look up?
The film follows a couple of astronauts who try to warn humanity that an asteroid is hurtling towards planet Earth and that they have only six months to go.
The protagonists are Leo and J Law, a pair of low-ranking scientists who, when they discover a meteor will hit Earth within six months, embark on a media tour to try to warn the world, only to find an unresponsive and unbelieving population.
In February 2020, writer McKay spoke of his excitement to have Jennifer Lawrence on board, telling Deadline, “I’m so excited to be making this movie with Jen Lawrence. She’s what people called ‘a dynamite talent’ in the 17th century.
“And the fact that Netflix sees this film as a global comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way.”
