Daniel Craig got his kit off ‘most of the way through’ in last outing as James Bond

James Bond star Daniel Craig says he has got his kit off “most of the way through” his final outing as the spy in No Time To Die.

Craig, 53, stated that 007 needed to be the one to strip off in order to keep up with the times.

He also said that the film franchise, which was first launched in 1962, needed to be more awakened to not upset anyone.

There are no “Bond Girls” and the secret agent’s treatment of women is less sexist than in previous outings.

He said: “There are certain things attached to Bond of which we would say, ‘you can’t do that anymore’ – his attitude towards women and how the women are treated in the films.”

Asked whether Lea Seydoux, who plays Dr Madeleine Swann, and Ana de Armas, who is cast as CIA agent Paloma, should be dubbed “Bond Girls”, he told Radio Times: “Call them that at your peril.

“We’re very conscious of what’s going on in the world at the moment, but we’re not trying to shove a political message – or any message – down anybody’s throats.”

However, he does not think the role of James Bond should go to a woman.

He said: “The answer to that is very simple.

“There should simply be better parts for women and actors of colour.

“Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?”

Discussing the sex symbol status he has gained since his first outing as the MI6 agent, Craig told the publication: “I’m OK with it. I knew what I was doing. They showed me some shorts, some swim trunks, and I went, ‘Those’,” referencing his iconic blue swim shorts.

“Because of Ursula Andress, and because of that look, I wanted to flip it on its head.”

No Time To Die, Craig’s last outing as James Bond is set to be released on September 30, having initially been pushed back by one year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The film will premiere at the Royal Albert Hall on September 28, with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall in attendance.
