Coronation Street actress Helen Worth said it was “love at first sight” when she first met her second husband Trevor Dawson.
The 70-year-old soap star married the London music teacher back in April 2013, and described him as “gorgeous”.
Helen shared her story with Nigel Havers in a pre-recorded lunch. This interview was broadcast on Monday’s This Morning.
“I met Trevor about 10 years ago and I just thank my lucky stars really,” Helen told Nigel, before adding: “He’s just gorgeous.”
Nigel then asked her: “Was it love at first sight?” and Helen didn’t hesitate at all in saying: “Yes, yes!”
Helen was previously married to Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends narrator Michael Angelis.
Although they were married in 1991, he confessed to an affair in 2015.
Helen was able to forgive him but he then began an affair with Jennifer Khalastchi, a model. The couple split in 2001 after 21 years of marriage.
Helen has had her fair share drama in her relationships on the cobbles. Gail Platt, her character, was very hurt.
Helen first joined the cast of the ITV soap back in 1974 and has never looked back.
She’s not the only one who feels like it was “love at first sight”, as Trevor has previously said the same about her.
Opening up about their romance, he said: “We met at a mutual friend’s 90th birthday party. Yes, it was love at first sight.”
He added that he had been a fan of Helen before they met and regularly follows her character on screen.
He continued: “We watch the show together. I had always been a fan going back some years. I used to watch it with my mum. Of course, Gail was my favourite.”
Trevor proposed to Helen after keeping their romance secret for more than a year.
