Within the last five minutes of Chicago PD season 9 episode 9, it’s fair to say the producers packed in a TON of content.
In case you missed it, we’ve already covered a major storyline in Upton and Halstead’s wedding via the link here. The focus of this article is the future for Voight at Intelligence, and how far Jay was willing to go to keep everyone safe.
It turns out that Jesse Lee Soffer’s character did not Sell Hank to the FBI, and he didn’t go to jail himself. Instead, he was able to dig up dirt about the FBI agent who led the investigation and turn it against him. He made it clear that he could ruin his career and then gave him enough information to look elsewhere. Along the way, Jay was asked if this was really the kind of cop he wanted to be. Was he happy that he was crossing ethical boundaries to get what he wanted? We’d say the answer here is no, but he did what he felt he had to do. He loves those who are close to him and he will do everything he can to make sure they are well.
An important thing that is doing When it all comes out, Halstead makes it clear to Voight that there’s more of him out there who goes rogue and “handles” situations his way. He has to bring Jay in, especially to make sure Voight is protected from himself. Like all of us, we think Jay recognizes that there will most likely come a day when Voight breaks too many rules and ends up being arrested, or others end up in the crossfire. He clearly wants to avoid that.
While Voight appears to be okay with the arrangement, we’ll learn if that really is the case when the show returns to air early next year.
