Cheryl pulls out of Birmingham Pride as she shares grief after Sarah Harding death

Cheryl has pulled out of an appearance at Birmingham Pride as she grieves for former Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding, who tragically died earlier this month.

Fight For This Love’s singer shared her sadness for Sarah on her Instagram Stories and apologised to her followers for missing the concert.

Cheryl wrote: “Saying goodbye to somebody you spent such a massive piece of your life with is like nothing else.

“My heart is heavy, grief is such a harsh experience and an absolute rollercoaster of emotions, questions without answers and pain without resolve, so tumultuous and constant.”

She went on: “I’m sorry, but I’m not physically, mentally, or emotionally able to perform at Birmingham Pride this Saturday.

“I apologise wholeheartedly and I can only hope for your understanding [praying emoji] (I promise I will make it up to you somehow).

“I feel now I just need some time to sit with my feelings and process the grief…”

Cheryl added: “With a love heart emoticon, “Nothing prepares you for that bit.”

Cheryl penned an emotional tribute to her late bandmate

The singer was scheduled to perform on the Main Stage of the event tomorrow (Saturday 25 September) from 10pm until midnight.

It comes after Cheryl paid an emotional tribute to Sarah on Instagram, posting a picture of her late pal and writing: “Although we knew this day would arrive I am somehow still feeling at a loss for words that our stunning, unique, crazy, quirky, kind and soft hearted girl has departed.

Sarah died aged 39 after a battle with breast cancer

“As I try to navigate my way through these painfully strange and horribly unfamiliar waves of disbelief & finality I am experiencing, I wanted to extend my condolences to all of our GA fans.

“We were like an extended family for so long and we know so many of you by name. I wanted to let you know how much Sarah appreciated your support and love during her most difficult times.”

Cheryl went on: “She was so grateful for your support and it really lifted her spirits at a time when she needed it most.

“I also realise so many will be deeply affected by the circumstances of Sarah’s passing… I am sending you all so much love I love you Sarah… farewell.

Cheryl made the emotional post on Instagram

“Sarah Nicole Harding forever in our hearts.”

Sarah passed away aged 39 after a battle with breast cancer, after bravely announcing she was fighting the disease in August last year.

Her cancer spread to her spine, brain and other areas of her body.

Sarah’s mum announced the news that Sarah had died “peacefully” on social media on September 5.
