Baby names predicted to trend in 2022 – from Bear to Cressida and Calypso

There’s not long left of 2021 – we know, it’s gone by scarily fast – which means pregnant people who are due in 2022 are looking for the perfect name for their baby.

And, it’s important to parents to find something that is stylish, suits their child and won’t seem bizarre in a couple of years. This is especially important as new names constantly come and go.

This means that those planning on having a baby in 2022 would be wise to keep an eye on the latest trends – whether you want a moniker that’s the height of fashion or to avoid anything remotely popular.

Luckily, the team at Nameberry has made a number of predictions on what will be popular over the next 12 months.

First, names with an adventure- or escapist-sounding tone will be very popular. Unisex options are also on the rise.

This apparently shows “a shift in the way the new generation of parents approaches traditional gender norms”.

Here are the themes they think will be popular in 2022:

“Particularly trendy categories for S-ending names right now include snappy surnames, cool vintage names, and ancient and mythical names.”
