Arsenal ‘draw up three-man striker transfer shortlist including Youssef En-Nesyri and Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin’

SUMMER big-spenders Arsenal are preparing to splash the cash again in January as they target a statement signing upfront.

Mikel Arteta has reportedly drawn up a three-person striker shortlist, with Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri viewed as a cheaper alternative to Dusan Vlahovic and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been frozen out since being stripped of the captain’s armband and is linked with a move to Barcelona or Juventus.

Meanwhile, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out-of-contract in the summer, leaving Arsenal in desperate need of a marquee signing upfront.

And transfer chief Edu has Fiorentina ace Vlahovic and Calvert-Lewin on a shortlist alongside En-Nesyri.

But after spending over £150million in the summer, a move for En-Nesyri may be preferred.

ESPN reports that he has already been scouted by Arsenal and represents a much cheaper option than Vlahovic and Calvert-Lewin.

Fiorentina has reportedly slapped a £68million price tag on Serbian superstar Vlahovic, while Calvert-Lewin also wouldn’t come cheap due to his Premier League pedigree.

En-Nesyri, though is valued at just over £36million by transfermarkt.

The 24-year-old Moroccan international netted a reasonable 24 times in all competitions last season, helping Sevilla to a fourth-place finish in La Liga.

Goals have been harder to come by this campaign, with just three since the summer.

Injury has restricted En-Nesyri to just ten appearances this season, but there’s no denying his talent.

Vlahovic remains a target after the striker rejected Fiorentina’s latest offer of a new contract.

The Gunners and Tottenham, and Manchester United are said to be on red alert over the goal machine and preparing to battle it out for the 21-year-old.

Meanwhile, Calvert-Lewin has also been linked with a move to the Emirates.

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has urged the club to put in a ‘massive bid’ for the England man, who has spent the majority of this season out with an injured toe.
