A fantastic world, magic, monsters, and a dark and tormented hunter bound by fate to a princess. This is the promise of one of the most famous fantasy franchises not mentioned by the name Lord of the Rings. Add to that a man who embodied Superman and is on the lips of a huge fanbase to play James Bond, and you’ve got the recipe for one of the giant behemoths in the world on the most critical streaming service.

Henry Cavill dressed up as Geralt of Rivia, a magically enhanced monster hunter known as The Witcher. The series is based on a series of novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, set on a fictional landmass known as The Continent. The book series was also adapted into a best-selling game franchise of the same name. Here you can watch season 2 and get your monster hunting fix online.

the witcher season 1

The series opens with a serene and peaceful scene of a cute little deer foraging near a river. At first, you can be forgiven for thinking you’re watching the wrong show. Still, it quickly evolved into a battle between the Witcher himself, Geralt of Rivia, and a monster, known as a kikimora, when Geralt is catapulted out of the river with the beast on its tail.

Geralt is a gloomy, grim, and coarse mutant who growls a lot in answer to his questions. He’s physically impressive, his voice is deep and guttural, and it’s clear that Cavill spent time learning his martial arts skills to make his version of the character as believable as possible. Geralt gives the strong, quiet type a whole new meaning.

‘s timeline The Witcher is a bit confusing early in the season. Vague references are sprinkled throughout the dialogue about humans being worse monsters than Geralt hunts. Fate is also often mentioned. However, one thing is clear: every action is not only determined by chance, but no one can escape his future either.

Where Season 1 Ended

The Witcher Season 1 ends with the unknown fate of Yennefer, Nilfgaard’s army (temporarily) defeated, and Geralt of Rivia finally united with his Child of Surprise, Ciri. Drawing from Andrzej Sapkowski’s collections of short stories, The sword of fate & the last wish, and the first novel, Blood of Elves, the first season of the Netflix show, establishes the three core characters and their place on the continent.

When The Witcher begins, the stories of the three main characters are very far apart. Jennifer begins a few decades before Geralt’s, and Geralt’s starts about a few decades before Ciri’s (he claims the law of surprise in episode 4, “Of Banquets, Bastards and Burials,” which takes place 12 years before the story of Ciri begins in the series premiere).

In the season finale, “Much More,” all three storylines converge around the Battle of Sodden Hill, with Yennefer fighting in the middle of the battle and Geralt & Ciri in the woods not far away.

Yennefer & Geralt’s timelines begin to run parallel by episode 5, “Bottled Appetites.” Yet it doesn’t last until the very last moments of The Witcher season 1 that Geralt finally catches up with Ciri. Her plans to travel to Skellige are threatened; Ciri is captured by the maternal Zola, while Geralt is saved from near-death by Zola’s husband, Yurga.

Ciri runs away from Yurga and Zola’s house shortly before Geralt arrives, but Geralt senses her nearby and runs into the woods. The two finally find each other there, fulfill their destiny and hug as if they’ve known each other for years.

Where to watch seasons 1 & 2 online

The Witcher season 2 is almost here. The Netflix show about our favorite monster hunter returns on December 17, 2021, for its second season, and we’ll see Geralt & Ciri travel to Witcher Keep Kaer Morhen. In addition, other popular witcher characters, including Vesemir, Eskel, and Lambert, are scheduled to appear. Through their sounds, Season 2 will allow us to see a different side of Geralt as well.

The Witcher Season 2’s release date is Friday, December 17, 2021. The entire eight-episode season is available to watch on Netflix from midnight PST. That’s 3 a.m. Friday on the US East Coast and 8 a.m. in the UK. The season 2 release date was announced at WitcherCon (a digital event collaboration between Netflix and CD Projekt), placing the second season two years after the first.

At the moment, since this is a Netflix original, the only way to see Geralt in action online is by subscribing to the streaming service. While you can undoubtedly find some shady sites that you can stream for free, the quality is never the same, and the risks of viruses are high. Nevertheless, the Witcher is a series of fantastic landscapes and locations, best viewed in the highest quality on the home platform.
