After News Of Casey Leaving Chicago Fire, Will Jesse Spencer Feature A Return?

Will Jesse Spencer ever return to? Chicago fire after Matthew Casey’s shocking departure on Wednesday night’s new episode? There are reasons to wonder.

For starters, take the fact that the character was not killed. Instead, he goes to Oregon and in theory commits there for a few years. There could be a chance he’ll come back in the right situation, right? There’s always Severide’s wedding or some other big milestone; personally, we don’t feel like Casey is gone for good.

Ultimately, this seems to be somewhat confirmed by Spencer himself. Via TVLine, the actor made it clear that there are logistical reasons why he might come back later:

“There’s a chance I’ll come back. I’m still in Chicago right now. I’m not running away to Los Angeles or anything, although I might escape the winter for a bit… My house here with my wife is in Chicago, and so I’ll still be here, but I’m just taking a step back for now.”

We have a feeling that Spencer could return once every few seasons, provided the story is right. It’s going to be hard to get him back on a regular basis since you can’t just flutter in and out of a former cast member all the time.

However, it seems that there is still a good relationship between him and the show. It is in a way similar to what we see with Monica Raymund; Although she hasn’t appeared on screen as Dawson in a while, she has recently directed multiple TV episodes set in the larger world of Dick Wolf.
