Black Widow became the kind of character who went through major changes and development during her numerous appearances in Marvel films. We’ve seen Natasha Romanoff transform from just a side character into a protagonist who helped shape the entire plot of the MCU.
In addition to her extraordinary spy skills, she is also a master of one-liners. She doesn’t seem to talk much, but when she does, it’s a brilliant idea or a sarcastic comment.
“Let me put you on hold.”
Natasha made a lasting impression in this as her introductory scene in the 2012 The Avengers movie. She worked as an undercover, tied to a chair with three men mocking her. Out of nowhere, one of the men gets a call from Agent Phil Coulson.
She answers the call, and when she knew what the fuss was about, she told Coulson to stay on the line for a while. From there she hit these men like a spear and walked away as if nothing had happened.
“Thank you for your cooperation.”
In his cell, Loki tries to provoke Natasha by reminiscing and exposing the grime on every member of the Avengers. The spy agent looked at him with terrified eyes, enough for the god of mischief to notice that she was about to cry.
As soon as Loki mentions the Hulk, Natasha confidently comes up with his plan. She tells everyone to prepare and when she leaves, she thanks Loki for working with her.
“Are you really that naive?”
As the fight between the Avengers heats up, Natasha tries to intervene by telling her companions how foolish and short-sighted they all are. They argue like children and don’t take things as seriously as they should. Everything became a personal attack.
Of all the members of the Avengers, Black Widow seems to be the only grounded and level-headed person. She never jokes about anyone’s shortcomings and shortcomings.
“I always pick up after you guys.”
As in the previous item, Natasha always has to pick up and take care of the boys. During a battle, Captain America irresponsibly leaves his shield on the ground and Natasha comes in riding a motorcycle to retrieve it. This is why she is the most reliable and trustworthy Avenger. Everyone, including Nick Fury, trusts her.
“Love is for children. I owe him a debt.”
When Loki asked Natasha if she has feelings for Clint Barton, she replied that they were all debt. He was supposed to kill her during one of his past missions, but he made another call. Now they have become inseparable best friends.
“This is like Budapest all over again.”
Natasha and Clint have worked together before, so during the attack in New York she reminds him of what happened in Budapest looked like. Clint, on the other hand, says he remembers it differently.
“I got red on my ledger. I would like to erase it.”
The most iconic and mysterious line from her conversation with Loki became the central theme in her solo film, Black Widow. We finally know what it is and why she wanted to erase them all. Natasha had a dark and difficult past and all she ever wanted was to live with a clear conscience.
